Wm. Bradford (Brad) Barnes has distinguished himself as a business owner locally and in Northern Virginia, as well as playing key roles with nonprofits in Rappahannock and elsewhere. As owner of J.D. Roy Excavating, Inc., since 2005, he applied a decade of previous management experience take the site development company to a leading position in the field. He was on the Northern Virginia board of the Associated Builders and Contractors, the construction industry trade association. In Rappahannock, he has volunteered his skills and energy to many organizations: Rappahannock County Free Clinic, 4-H/Rappahannock County Livestock Club, The Link, Habitat for Humanity, the Old Dominion Conservation and Education Foundation, and others. At Emory University’s Goiziueta School of Business, he earned an undergraduate degree in finance while playing varsity baseball and was named Most Valuable Player in 1995. His daughter attends Rappahannock County Public Schools. His sons are enrolled at Bucknell and Mercersburg Academy.
